A New Beard in Africa

Last night my dear friend Joshua arrived in Africa for what will be a very important journey for the next 8 months. I can't even begin to describe how excited I am for him, let alone how proud I am for what he has decided to do.

For those of you who don't know, he has moved to Africa to work with a non-profit organization that helps build schools, dig water wells, etc in villages in Africa. He has basically stopped his very normal life to devote this time to the people of Africa. If you know Joshua you would know that he already is a very self-less person. Taking this additional step just makes me sick - HAHA.
Ok not really, it makes me very proud to know him and to be part of his life.

What he is doing is a great thing. Many people have recently given up their time and their lives to help the less fortunate in Haiti and I hold of them in the highest regard - just like Joshua. I only wish I had the ability to do the same.

Snow, Slush....SNOW!

Tuesday afternoon in the 512...we have snow. Well, it once was snow and now its just slush. Kinda gross actually. Funny thing is that when it was falling, it was the most beautiful thing ever! The sky was a muggy, but beautiful shade of white with a slight tinge of gray. The flurries were coming from all directions - it looked really awesome. Now...slush.....WAIT, i look over my shoulder and guess whats coming down again?? YEP, SNOW!

I know I'm a cheesy Texan who has no clue what "real snow" is like but I cant help but get all excited when I see that fluffy white stuff fall from a gray-tinged sky.
